The
School Bazaar and the cultural fest that follow are annual
events that see the Balamitra School abuzz with activity.
This year the children and staff of Balamitra warmed up to
the festival much earlier, in the month of December. The school
was buzzing with the sounds of music, rhythm and dialogue
deliveries apart from Class room activities. Children and
teachers got busy with preparing for the School Bazaar. Everything
that moulded out of the children's hands spoke of the lessons
they were learning .Geometry in the greeting cards they made,
art work from their Art classes, soaps, painted gourds and
much more.
On the cultural front, the main lesson of Occupation was
dramatized and presented as a play; Eurythmy was presented
in the form of a Japanese Clap song; melodious songs flowed
off the flutes; Pandora's Box, a play was representative
of a lesson in Greek Mythology; a Puppet Show depicting
the theme of hardships that the tribal people and the animals
of the jungle have to encounter was the highlight of the
evening; And needless to say harmonious rendition of a host
of tribal songs in various languages like Konda, Oriya,
Telugu, Hindi and even African languages proved the artistic
mettle of the children, teachers and volunteers of Balamitra.
The Chief Guest of the day was Mr.D.V.Subba Rao, former
Mayor and an eminent lawyer of Visakhapatnam. He appreciated
the efforts of Balamitra and the people behind it. Addressing
the students, he said that it only showed that all that
was needed was opportunity and that he was overwhelmed by
the originality displayed by the children He complimented
the school for preserving the ancient culture while imparting
education through nature and felt that it's the good work
promoted by the school that brought volunteers from the
far off Germany to this remote corner of Andhra Pradesh.
The Balamitra Pandoi was attended by the children's families
and Balamitra's friends.
