It was on the 13th of October, 2008 that
Anna Hall and Freya Meredith landed at Balamitra Model
School, Sagar Nagar. Waldorf teacher trainees from England,
they chose Balamitra as their testing ground to use their
pedagogical skills. And it was an enriching experience
for them as well as the students, teachers and volunteers.
Anna and Freya were involved with class
4 and 5 in their main lessons, taking up Greek Mythology
and Geometry, singing, art and craft with class 3.
As part of the Greek Mythology classes
they put up a play, “Pandora’s Box”
to an invited audience at the school on the 11th of November.
Children of class IV and V adorned the attire and presented
the Gods of Greece with aplomb. The play started with
a clap rhythm and a recitation of verses from Greek mythology
on the Greek Gods and continued with the enactment of
Pandora’s Box. Class III children joined the group
with a wonderful choir.
The short but sweet programme was yet
another display of the children’s and teachers’
talent.
